Picking up a solid first yoyo is no easy task. Especially for someone who is just starting out and has no idea what to look for. And one would thought that there’s going to be plenty of choice from affordable yoyos which can do most of the basic tricks. But no - quite the opposite! It’s much easier, quicker and cheaper to make a high-end metal yoyo and sell it for 5 times as much as a yoyo for beginners. So we end up with hundreds of expensive metal yoyos for professionals and you can count good “first yoyos” on your fingers. YOYOFFICER is one of the few “small” companies who managed to stay in the community long enough to build a reputation with their affordable, quality made metal yoyos that they finally decided to step up the game and make a plastic yoyo for the masses.
That yoyo became the X.POINT - affordable plastic yoyo for both beginners and advanced players. It’s main advantage is the possibility to choose between responsive and unresponsive play. You simply put one of the two bearings, that are included in the packaging, into the yoyo and play the way you want. If you’re just staring out you want the yoyo to be responsive, especially if you don’t even know how to throw a solid sleeper. After you master the basics and you want to get into the more advanced tricks, you simply swap the slim bearing for the wide, centering one. The X.POINT will spin longer, it’ll handle more strings more easily and it will not come back on a tug. It’s much easier to perform complicated tricks with this setup.
The X.POINT is made from a quality, hard plastic so you don’t have to worry about breaking it if you manage to hit the ground from time to time. The axle system is also simple, yet durable and without unnecessary parts, which means you don’t have to worry about loosing stuff. The size and shape of this yoyo is also ideal. It’s not too small (common issue with beginner yoyos) and not too large so it won’t fit into your hand. Same applies to the width - not too wide to tilt itself and to too narrow that you miss that string hit. The best thing about the XPOINT is that it’s not extreme in any way. It’s just an affordable, though and overall solid yoyo for players who are starting out or for more advanced throwers who just want something fun to carry around.
